VDC DISTRIBUTION CENTER

New construction of a 34,700-sq-ft tilt-up warehouse and premium office building in the South Bay Area of Southern California. This project delivered a higher volume of storage space to compensate for the lack of vacant lots for new warehouses in the South Bay Area. The building’s visual style, including 70-foot-long horizontal windows, captures the speed and energy of the vehicles moving along Vermont avenue. The office’s location outside of the warehouse’s tilt-up concrete shell allows structural freedom for the bold building’s form, which stands out among all other warehouse buildings in this area.

GREEN POCKETS:
WAREHOUSE OFFICE REMODELING/ ADDITION

Office addition in an existing warehouse building shell in the city of Compton. Continuous expansion of the office spaces within a warehouse shell sometimes creates a work environment that lacks natural light and delivers a maze-like spatial experience. The green pocket between the office and the warehouse enhances the work environment by using an artificial vertical landscape as a location indicator or landmark point. The green pocket provides bright space in a deep location of the warehouse, with natural light pouring from the existing skylight right above the green pocket.

KINGSLEY APARTMENT

New construction of a six-unit apartment in the city of LA. The simple, bold style provides interesting visual tension and contrast in the existing complex urban landscape.

ALLEY WAY IN MASTER SUITE:
HOUSE REMODELING PROJECT

The owner requested a remodel of the existing master bath and walk-in closet into a simple, generous layout with a modern look. An alley connecting the walk-in closet, vanity, and bathroom provides a more generous spatial feel in the limited square footage of the given space.

RE:MASK
WHOLE OFFICE BUILDING EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR REMODELING

Whole exterior and interior remodel of a 35,000-sq-ft office building located in Gangnam Dae-ro in Seoul, South Korea. A new white exterior offers a simple style transformation, and a more pedestrian-friendly podium facade boosts street appeal. WeWork, a global provider of creative office space, announced that their 17th location in South Korea, WeWork Shin-sa, would occupy the whole building beginning in July 2019.

WEST LA HOUSE ADDITION / REMODELING

This 2,550-sq-ft house remodel includes a 1,650-sq-ft remodel and a 900-sq-ft new addition within a beautifully landscaped property in West LA. The “corridor of light” connects the old and new spaces and becomes a visual and experiential focal point for the project.

LINCOLN CO-LIVING MIXED-USE
NEW CONSTRUCTION

New construction with total 3,000 sf-ft duplex co-living above the concrete podium including retail space + parking garage. Each co-living unit has 6 bedroom+bathroom combo spaces for individual user with a common living, kitchen, & dining space. The building design concept is inspired by the site located between a commercial corridor and residential zoning. The gable roof from the image of the house and flat concrete podium massing representing a commercial building are combined vertically and represent this specific site location and provides a unique signal to the community as a landmark building.

HELMS AVE ADU
NEW CONSTRUCTION

1,200 sf 2 story ADU new construction in Culver City with 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms. The ADU is a significant solution for LA's housing crisis but still, architects face substantial design challenges of limited views, daylight, outdoor space, and privacy due to the higher dwelling density in typical R zoning lots. The project handled typical architectural elements such as skylights, balconies, window proportions, and positioning in an interesting way to address these issues while respecting the privacy of the owner's home and improving the residential environment for the ADU tenants.

Work completed in 2022.
